Charity Event

For the last several years, I’ve been proud to volunteer my time to the Special Olympics of Northern Virginia coaching golf. This year, it was my honor to volunteer as Treasurer for the 5th Annual Special Olympics/DSANV Golf Tournament.

The mission of DSANV is to ensure that all individuals with Down Syndrome and their families receive the support necessary to participate in, contribute to and achieve fulfillment of life in their community.  Special Olympics in Northern Virginia is dedicated to improving the lives of persons with intellectual disabilities through sport.  The money raised in this year’s event will help our athletes and families to believe in themselves and become vital contributors to the Northern Virginia community.

As you know, both DSANV and Special Olympics in Northern Virginia are dependent on the generous support of individuals and organizations, to continue the work to support local families with children with intellectual disabilities. We’re excited that regardless of today’s economy, generous players and sponsors helped June’s event raise over $30,000 for our area’s organizations.

I’m happy to announce that the 6th Annual Special Olympics/DSANV Golf Tournament will take place on June 7, 2010 at the Springfield Country Club.  I’m hopeful we can count on our readers’ support and participation in next year’s tournament.
