By June 22, 2023August 3rd, 2023No Comments

We have a great team of home remodeling professionals at Synergy! We think it’s important to know who you’ll be working with and who will be in your home during any renovation project. That’s why we love to highlight our team members so you can get to know us better.

Everyone on the Synergy Team is involved at some point along the way on every home remodeling project we do, from project managers to carpenters to interior designers.

Left: Maegan.

This month, we’re highlighting Maegan who is an expert when it comes to custom cabinetry design. She also focuses on Client Relations as well as overseeing the day-to-day operations of Synergy. It’s often Maegan who is the first person clients speak to when they call Synergy.

So, let’s meet and learn more about Maegan and find out about her role in ensuring Synergy is one of the best home remodelers in Reston!

What was your path to working in the home remodeling industry?

I worked for my family’s custom cabinetry business for years. We had done work for Synergy a couple times, so I knew of them that way. Working at Synergy was a good match for me because I knew they were a great company based on my past experience with them and I could bring small-business industry experience to my role here.

Tell us more about what your day-to-day looks like?

I’m lucky, because it’s a variation of things! Day-to-day can include interacting with clients, design work (custom cabinetry is my specialty!) or even accounting work (spending so many years in a small business means I’ve learned to wear a lot of hats).

What skills are important to have to work in your role?

Whether it’s working on the construction/design side or the accounting side, one of the most important skills is being detail-oriented. Specific and critical items are everywhere, so it’s important to be able to track and remember details. Another important skill in this industry especially, is flexibility. Things often happen unexpectedly, so being able to problem solve and support co-workers when surprises happen makes for a strong and successful team.

What do you love the most about your job?

I enjoy all my work, but particularly when I can utilize my creativity in design or cabinetry. I also really enjoy being part of the Synergy team. It’s such a collaborative environment and we’re all here to help each other and the company succeed, so it’s really nice coming to work.

What are the most challenging aspects?

I think for everyone, it’s the surprises. It’s when things unexpectedly happen on a job site, or items are delayed and may not arrive in time. It requires quick thinking and creative problem solving.

Tell us more about your favorite home remodeling project and why it resonated with you.

I think it was a job we completed late 2022. It was a kitchen/main level renovation for a family with three children. At the end of the project, they invited us for lunch and not only did the space look fantastic, they expressed what a great experience the renovation was for them. It was an emotional moment for everyone and reinforced for us how much we value caring for our clients and creating an amazing renovation experience for them. It was really special and the kids made the cutest sign.

This made our team’s day!

What advice would you give for anyone thinking of a career in interior design or residential home remodeling?

It’s a fun and rewarding field! But you do have to be prepared to deal with unexpected or stressful situations sometimes. There’s also a lot to learn! So don’t be afraid to start from the ground up and take in as much information as you can along the way. Even seasoned pros in this industry are learning from experience all the time.
