Here at Synergy, we love it when our clients and friends in the community refer us to their neighbors, and we get to come back to familiar places! This renovation is our fourth on this home model in an elegant, established neighborhood in Vienna, VA. Each time we renovate the kitchens, we bring something new and totally unique to personalize our clients’ spaces!
Similar to other projects in this neighborhood, our clients found their Kitchen too closed-in. They couldn’t move and mingle between the Main Level spaces as easily as they would like to, and they wanted to infuse the space with fresh new finishes and expanded functionality.
We started by removing a large portion of a load-bearing wall between the Kitchen and the existing Dining Room, which ended up later becoming a casual sitting area space. We suggested moving their Dining Room to a more formal separate room at the front of the house since the larger room could better accommodate their oversized furniture and was already an under-used space. This allowed us to completely reconfigure the original peninsula Kitchen into a bright open space with a large island and new focal-point appliances. A doorway to the existing Mudroom was relocated to improve traffic flow, and that space also received a make-over with additional cabinetry.
In addition to floorplan changes, our clients opted to replace the original flooring throughout the level with a gorgeous new wide-plank hardwood. The Family Room adjacent to the Kitchen received a huge facelift – almost entirely due to simply painting the existing stained trim and built-in cabinetry! The changes throughout bring the spaces together as a cohesive whole.
On the second floor, our clients also opted to renovate their Primary Bathroom. The new layout is similar to the original, with updated custom cabinetry, a freestanding tub (goodbye oversized tub deck!), and a spacious tiled shower. Fresh new selections and colors throughout make the bath feel like a brand new space.
