Our Approach

Using a design-build approach, where the same contractor that designs your kitchen renovation builds it, we help ensure your project is as you envisioned from start to finish. This approach drives single-point accountability and eliminates the hassle in identifying and selecting the right designer, builder and tradespeople for your home makeover.

After you determine your budget, we will work with you to make sure you don’t encounter the common financial remodeling and renovating pitfalls that can come with projects. We will help you every step of the way to create an open, inviting and efficient space that you can be proud of.

Our design-build team dedicates their talents to your renovation in a way that makes you stand out from similar houses in your neighborhood and gives you the relaxing, beautiful environment that will add energy to your life.

The Renovation Roadmap

Your Personal Guide to an Exceptional Remodeling Experience

Have you ever wondered why renovations go wrong?

  • Contractor says your kitchen will be completed in three weeks, and two months later there’s still no end in sight…
  • You go with the “less expensive” guy, only to be given a stack of change orders that eventually cost you 40% more than what you agreed to…
  • You feel like your own project manager because no one’s on site everyday to answer the subcontractor’s questions…

We understand that the key to a great customer experience is having a clear pathway and strong synergy between the design AND the construction. We know that when there’s a clear path ahead of you, you can have a stress-free and fun renovating journey and actually Renovate Happy.

Mina’s work has been featured on a variety of well-known media networks - HGTV, NPR, BBC, Shape, the Washington Business Journal, and other national, local, and online outlets. Tim Albers

Production Manager

Tim brings 34 years of residential and commercial construction experience to Synergy, with a career that spans founding and running his own general contracting firm, designing and building custom homes, and leading complex projects from concept through completion in the US and abroad.

Growing up in a family of craftsman remodelers, Tim learned at a young age a strong, honest work ethic, pride in workmanship, and a keen attention to detail- the whole of the project is the sum of its details.

With deep expertise across all phases of construction — from concept development and structural design to permitting, scheduling, and quality management — Tim is proficient in interpreting drawings and running an efficient jobsite, giving him a unique ability to anticipate issues before they affect the project. Fluent in English and Spanish, Tim brings strong interpersonal skills and a calm, analytical approach to every project he manages.

What sets Tim apart is a life built around service. He is a husband of 23 years and a father of 5 children, he and his wife met while serving for 2 years at a Catholic mission in Honduras where he volunteered his construction expertise. Then serving for 1 year in the Dominican Republic, they built facilities from the ground up in demanding conditions — including a project that withstood Haiti's 2010 magnitude 7.0 earthquake with little to no damage.

Tim enjoys spending time with his wife Jennie and 5 kids, coaching his kid’s sports, playing the guitar, and practicing his Catholic faith. A native of Michigan, he spends vacations going back to enjoy time on the water at various Michigan lakes with extended family.

Joey Culotta

Lead Carpenter

Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Joey got his start in carpentry working weekends alongside the many tradesmen in his family. He never expected to follow in their footsteps — but the work won him over, and his love of the craft has been growing ever since.

Joey's true passion is trim carpentry and finish work — the details that bring a space together. Nothing beats stepping back at the end of a project and seeing the result of his hard work. Years in remodeling have also given him a deep working knowledge across the trades, so he understands how every phase of a project connects. A career favorite: a multi-million-dollar new construction home in Leesburg — complete with a basement bowling alley and a two-story library with a rotunda — where he got to watch every aspect of the home come together.

Joey lives in Herndon, and in his free time you'll find him tinkering with cars, camping and hiking with his wife, or out honing his drone photography skills.

Tyler Wykoff

Lead Carpenter

Tyler has spent more than 15 years honing his craft across all phases of residential construction — from framing and structural work to high-end finish carpentry and custom millwork. He brings extensive experience on additions, renovations, and structural expansions — installing cabinetry, hanging doors, trim, and premium finishes while also coordinating subcontractors, leading crews, and keeping jobsites running smoothly — all while maintaining the quality and code compliance that every well-run project demands.

For Tyler, the best part of the job is seeing a project evolve from blueprints to a finished space and delivering something clients truly love.

When he's not on the jobsite, Tyler enjoys baseball, fishing, and spending time with his son.

Rob Ellis

Lead Carpenter

Rob brings more than 20 years of hands-on residential construction experience, with deep expertise in remodeling and full-scope project execution across kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks, and additions.

He is known for his calm, practical approach to on-site problem solving — leading crews and subcontractors, interpreting blueprints, and delivering consistent quality while keeping projects on time and on budget. In the field, Rob is hands-on in every sense, installing cabinetry, hanging doors, trim, and finish details that bring a space together.
Rob's strong communication skills and attentive nature make him a natural fit for client-facing work, ensuring homeowners feel heard and informed throughout the construction process.

His background also includes the precision fabrication and installation of custom, high-end golf simulator enclosures for luxury residential clients — a nod to the exacting standards he brings to every project he touches.

When he's not on the jobsite, Rob is a lifelong sports enthusiast who spent over a decade coaching youth football and basketball. He still follows many of those same kids today — cheering them on from little league through high school and beyond. Growing up around race cars and motorcycles, Rob has gasoline in his veins — and a deep appreciation for the skill and craftsmanship it takes to go fast.
