Barbara grew up in a rural town outside Pittsburgh, PA. She spent much of her free time in
the vegetable and flower gardens with her father, in the kitchen with her mother; or later,
toiling away at the sewing machine or in the workshop exploring what would become her
future passion; design and build.
After art and interior design school, she specialized in marble tile and carved marble
fixtures, custom artisanal porcelain and one-off designs that established her in the high-end
design market to include renovating one of America’s Castles.
Barbara then married the love of her life and spent the next 20 years on a professional
adventure that led her across the country learning regional histories, design trends and
those subtle cultural design elements that turn a paper design into the embodiment of the
client’s needs, wants and personality.
She focused on kitchen and bath restoration, remodeling and new construction; from
cottage to commercial, one-off designs and even leading design-build teams delivering
1,800 new kitchens per year. Through this rare professional journey, Barbara mastered all
aspects of design, material selection, importation, manufacturing, product lines, transport,
construction and customer service from the East coast through the Midwest. In this 20-year
professional journey, Barbara saw what worked, what didn’t and how to avoid problems
while bringing the client’s vision to life.
In 2001, Barbara made Northern Virginia her home. A country girl at heart, Loudoun strikes
a hard-to-find balance of history, nature, community and culture—an eclectic and diverse
setting. She lives in Ashburn with her husband. Barbara enjoys spending time in her
kitchen baking and cooking, outside playing in the dirt in her flower gardens, taking quiet
drives in the country exploring nature, visiting local wineries, and getting together with family and friends.
