Planning and undertaking a whole home remodel can certainly be challenging when you live thousands of miles away from your house in another country, but that’s exactly what these clients did! Putting their trust in Synergy (we’ve completed a number of remodels for clients who are relocating back to the USA over the years), most of the design and material selections were completed virtually. Construction on the project also began before the homeowners moved back to the States.
Built in the late 1960s, the family were ready to rethink the configuration of the main level to better suit their needs and lifestyle. A larger kitchen was top of the priority list. They also wanted to create spaces with more contemporary finishes on all levels of the home and really bring it up-to-date.
On the main level, the existing Kitchen was crunched at the back of the house in a narrow galley-like space with a Family Room on one side and a Dining Area with an adjoined Living Room on the other. By relocating the Kitchen to the previous Dining Area/Living Room, it allowed us to create a much larger Kitchen. The previous location of the Kitchen is now the Dining Room. The functionality and flow of the spaces now make more sense. The Powder Room was also ready for a more updated look, and an “office” that was totally open to the Foyer was closed-in with pocket doors to create a more private sanctuary. The remaining rooms on this level were all refreshed for a cohesive, modern look that included removing decorative columns and removing/replacing older decorative features.
This home remodel also included a primary bathroom and guest hall bathroom remodel. See our Project Gallery to see how the bathrooms turned out!
