There’s nothing better than a good day of golf, unless it’s a great day of golf supporting our area’s Special Olympics programs. Thanks to my friends Rick Minicucci, Matt Jones, and Steve Douglass (two of which happen to be clients), our team won the tournament.
I’ve been a long-time supporter of this event, and it’s wonderful that my career affords me the opportunity to support this cause. It’s also rewarding to see our employees contribute to our community by serving as volunteers for other great causes. Every day, our company improves homes, and we also get to improve lives beyond beautiful spaces. How great is that?!
This year’s event was again held at the Springfield Golf and Country Club on Monday, June 11th. Everybody predicted rain, but the golf gods smiled on us and we played the whole 18-holes without problems. Although turnout was down slightly this year from last, we still managed to raise over $40,000 in donations and sponsorships. The proceeds go directly to our area’s (northern Virginia) Special Olympics and Downs Syndrome Association programs.
We ended the day with a lot of fun at the dinner and awards banquet, where there were great silent auction and raffle items donated by area businesses to help further support the cause. In the end, it was a successful event, fun day, with many good people from our community. Plans are already in the works for our 15th annual event and we hope to see you there!
