A Reimagined Kitchen Layout with Purpose
The kitchen transformation was all about opening sightlines and creating a space that felt expansive and welcoming. By reworking the layout and reconfiguring walls, the kitchen now connects more easily with the surrounding living areas, while still feeling like its own defined space.
Custom shelving and a thoughtfully designed art nook with wallpaper were added between the kitchen and living areas, creating a visual transition point that adds personality while maintaining an open feel.
At the heart of the kitchen is a large island with waterfall-style stone detailing that immediately draws the eye. The cooking zone is anchored by a Cornufé 110″ 43″ dual fuel range with French doors and five burners, adding both visual impact and high-performance functionality to the space. The island provides generous prep space, ample storage, and seating that invites connection, whether it’s casual mornings, after-school snacks, or evening gatherings with friends.
A second working island supports cooking efficiency without disrupting the flow of the room. Overhead, a custom pot rack adds function and character, keeping everyday tools within reach and reinforcing the kitchen’s hardworking nature.
Rich Cabinetry and Elevated Material Selections
Deep green kitchen cabinetry grounds the space and brings a sense of depth. By extending the cabinets to the ceiling, the kitchen feels more intentional, with clean lines that keep everything looking streamlined. Paneled appliances blend seamlessly into the design, allowing the cabinetry to remain the visual focus.
Engineered quartz countertops with dramatic veining add visual interest while still standing up to everyday use. The full-height stone backsplash behind the range ties the space together and gives the kitchen a refined, finished feel.
Newly finished hardwood floors run throughout the main level, balancing the cooler stone and cabinetry tones while adding warmth and continuity between spaces.
Thoughtful Kitchen Lighting and Finishing Touches
Layered lighting plays a critical role in the kitchen’s transformation. Sculptural pendant fixtures above the island add warmth and personality while recessed lighting keeps the space bright and functional when it’s time to cook or gather. Under-cabinet lighting adds a subtle ambiance, highlighting the materials and making the kitchen feel inviting at any hour.
Natural light pours in through nearby windows, softening the bold finishes and reinforcing the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
In the adjacent living area, Beachwood faux wood beams were added to the sloped ceiling. Finished in a dark walnut tone, the three-sided beams bring warmth, texture, and architectural definition to the space.
A Finished Basement Designed for Everyday Use
The renovation extended into the basement, creating a finished lower level designed for flexibility and comfort. New carpet throughout the space, along with a carpet runner on the stairs, softens the transition to the lower level, while freshly painted walls, trim, doors, and ceilings establish a clean, cohesive foundation.
In the rec room, architectural details help define the space without closing it off. A faux chase creates a natural TV area, while an extended bulkhead adds visual structure along the main wall. A custom slat wall provides separation between the bar and media area and the exercise space, allowing each zone to function independently while maintaining an open feel. The bar features painted cabinetry, floating shelves, an engineered quartz countertop, and an under-counter beverage center with an ice maker, creating a practical and inviting gathering space.
Lighting was updated throughout the basement to support both function and atmosphere, including new recessed fixtures, decorative sconces at the bar, and a ceiling fixture in the sitting area. The bedroom was reconfigured to improve flow, with a relocated entry, a new closet positioned near the window, and updated lighting. Coordinated doors, hardware, moulding, and updated electrical details complete the basement, resulting in a lower level that feels finished, intentional, and easy to use.
A Home Designed for Real Life
Every decision in this renovation was guided by how the homeowners actually use their space. From thoughtfully planned gathering areas and storage solutions to durable finishes and clearly defined zones, each update supports daily routines while allowing the home to adapt to entertaining, relaxation, and everything in between.
The result is a home that feels confident, cohesive, and timeless, one that works hard behind the scenes while elevating everyday living without feeling precious or overdesigned.
