You know when you see a designer on TV breeze into a room carrying a board with a perfectly planned design scheme already laid out for the homeowner? Truth be told, that’s not how it goes.
Although it may make great TV, we know that most of our clients already have a sense of style. They know what colors they like, what type of look they tend to gravitate to, and most importantly, how they want to feel when they walk into a room. That’s why we take a collaborative approach and build a design with them, because the end result is always so much more than either of us could have imagined alone.
For example, we recently won a CotY (Contractor of the Year) award for a whole home renovation in Alexandria, VA that is simply stunning. The project included opening up a staircase, remodeling three full bathrooms, creating a custom bookcase and fireplace surround, replacing all the doors, hardware and trim, and installing high-end lighting throughout.
Although winning this award is fun, it isn’t just another feather in our cap—this is our clients’ victory as well! Their contemporary yet eclectic style drove the design from the start, and we had a ton of fun creating the space together.
Check out the cool vibe we created in their daughter’s bathroom! Kind of retro-contemporary, with a beach-themed flair. I especially love the nook for the seashells and the countertops with the sparkle and bling that matches their pre-teen’s personality.
We created a soothing oasis in the Master Bath. From the light-colored tiles and fun wave accent in the shower niche, to the fun barn-style shower doors, the combination of selections let’s you know that this is not just an ordinary bathroom.
In the son’s basement bathroom, we used grays and silvers for a cool, industrial vibe. Contemporary-looking tiles in the shower (with glass accent tile for a ‘pop’) instantly make this space feel awesome. Not every teenager gets a bath scheme designed around their personality!
As spaces like these come together, it’s exciting to see the direction that our collaborative approach takes us. Even better than simply having a design that works well, our clients end up with a space that has been formed by their lifestyle, preferences, and most especially, who they are.
How would you describe your style?
